NOTE: The list below presents the IISCCIW's flexible plans for gatherings and conferences, according to our proposed planning as of early June 2008. Depending on what is appropriate, possible, and feasible, plans for other such events may be considered and added. Also, please see the Action Steps section for more context.
The IISCCIW's Proposed Gatherings/Conferences Planned for the Short-Term
(2007-2009 academic years, roughly)
- Numerous culturally and spiritually appropriate “brainstorming project” conversations and interviews with significant experts and players—on-going; Also please see the “Brainstorming in Action” page of this website for more information.
- A number of small and focused interdisciplinary gatherings of expert persons and teams (primarily focused on developing the information-gathering/survey project, and secondarily on further planning of the brainstorming project) guided by a select number of appropriate initial "advisors" to the initiative—Also, please see the “Brainstorming in Action” and the “Who we are” pages of this website for additional context.
- The IISCCIW's first two small-scale "introduction seminars," one in Iran(Shiraz), one in the U.S.
- The IISCCIW's "Grand Opening" event in Tehran, Iran.
The IISCCIW's Proposed Gatherings/Conferences Planned for the Mid-Term
(2009-2011 academic years, roughly)
- Continued culturally and spiritually appropriate “brainstorming project” conversations and interviews with significant experts and players, country-specific and internationally.
- The IISCCIW's "Grand Opening" events in the Eastern and Western U.S., followed by a consultation and coordination mini-seminar in each location.
- Several “advisory team” consultations (in person or long-distance) and smaller seminar-style gatherings of relevant experts and players (regionally and/or country-specific) for the purpose of mid-term to longer-term planning, and for further organizing.
- A presentation/progress seminar regarding the IISCCIW’s first 2 projects, one in Iran (Isfahan) and one in Egypt.
- The IISCCIW's MULTI-LOCATIONAL and web-casted first international conference, also with the focused objective of further refining the short-term to longer-term plans of the initiative.
The IISCCIW's Proposed Gatherings/Conferences Planned for the Longer-Term
(2011 and beyond)
- A “social sciences (in the Islamic world) and global warming/climate change” seminar, one in India and one in Indonesia.
- A coordination/information-sharing seminar in South Africa (Western Cape region).
- The project’s second international conference, in conjunction with the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
- Planning for and conducting further international, regional, and country-specific conferences and seminars.
