January 31, 2007
The idea of creating this initiative, originally called “Muslims and Global Warming
Initiative (MAGWI)” and subsequently re-named “Earth Muslims and Climate Change
(EMCC)” before finding its current finalized name as the “International Institute to Study
Climate Change in the Islamic World (IISCCIW)” occurred to Mojtaba Aghamohammadi,
a.k.a. Moji Agha (this writer), as he watched the documentary film “An Inconvenient Truth”
at the Gallegher Theater in the Student Union Building, at the University of Arizona in
Tucson, Arizona, the United States.
That evening, this writer drafted the initiative's original proposal, which then gradually
evolved, experiencing significant adjustments and modifications, on the following dates:
March 5, August 25, and October 18, 2007, and on February 18, April 12, and June 3, 2008.
